Remember, they are too much fun to own just one.

The story behind the name Pookabokit.

When I was a young child approximately three years old, I had a slight problem pronouncing my words (as most kids do at this age.) One of the hardest words for me to pronounce was pocketbook, it always came out as Pookabokit (Poo-ka-bach-it.) Everyone within hearing distance of me saying Pookabokit fell instantly in love. To this day pocketbooks in our house are called Pookabokits. It seems to me that it would only be fitting for us to call our irresistible bags Pookabokit.

 About Us:

The two key people in this operation are Holly Canoni and Beth Wigglesworth. We just so happen to be mother and daughter. Lucky for us we don’t have your “typical” mother/daughter relationship.

Holly grew up during the hippie era. She has been sewing for over 35 years. Holly has always considered herself an artist. She has dabbled in batick, wood carving, and sterling silver jewelry making, but she has always found her way back to sewing. She has two beautiful children who are fully grown and married (she can’t wait for the first grandchild.) Holly moved to Maine about a year and half ago, it was the best decision of her life. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to an incredible studio that looks out onto a breath-taking forest every morning? Each day she’s able to work in the world of bright ribbons, fabrics, buttons and all manner of fun in order to create little works of art.

Beth was a child of the 90’s (she can’t stand anything to do with the 80’s.) She started her first real job at the age of 16. Paid for her own schooling and graduated from Framingham State College in 1997 with a Psychology degree. Beth took a job working in the wonderful world of Furniture Sales and found herself quickly moving up the company chain. With eight years of Retail Store Management under her belt she is the business brains behind Pookabokit.

Together we make up the Pookabokit team.

We have to thank our loving families and friends for all of their unwavering support.

They're just too much fun to own just one!
